Statement from Governor Chafee Regarding the Resignation of Major General Robert T. Bray, Adjutant General of the State of Rhode Island

It was with great gratitude for his service that I learned of the resignation of Major General Robert T. Bray, who steps down as the Adjutant General of the State of Rhode Island.

Major General Bray's many awards and decorations are a testament to his leadership ability and decades-long commitment to the National Guard. During his tenure as Rhode Island's Adjutant General, he has overseen the deployment of more than 3,500 Rhode Island Army and Air National Guard members, the largest deployment of Rhode Island National Guard members since the Civil War. Additionally, his leadership of the Emergency Management Agency has resulted in its complete reorganization into a world-class agency that has proved its mettle during numerous natural disasters, including the floods of 2010.

On behalf of all Rhode Islanders, I thank Major General Bray for his service to our state and wish him well.
