Paul W. Crowley Award Presentation: Honoring Those Who Fight to Improve Education in Rhode Island

The Governor attended a ceremony honoring Paul W. Crowley Award recipient Dr. Tony Antosh on March 6. Given annually by the Rhode Island School Superintendents’ Association, the award is presented to a Rhode Islander who has demonstrated a passion for and commitment to improving education for children in the state.

Representative Paul Crowley, who passed away in 2007, used his position to fight for education improvement in Rhode Island. Dr. Antosh has embodied this dedication and passion for the education of Rhode Island’s young people.

“For nearly four decades, Tony has fought on behalf of Rhode Island students, particularly those with disabilities. He was instrumental in the closing of the Ladd Center and more recently has led the implementation of the Positive Behavior Supports program, which is helping students in schools across Rhode Island. Tony Antosh is a great Rhode Islander and he is very deserving of this award,” said Governor Chafee.

The Governor also recognized the members of the Crowley family who were in attendance and stated that they should be proud of the legacy being celebrated in the spirit of the award.
