Governor Celebrates Reading Week at Local Elementary Schools
Governor Chafee has been visiting elementary schools as part of Reading Week, an annual event held in elementary schools across Rhode Island. During the designated reading weeks, elected officials and other members of the community visit local schools and read to students. The Governor has participated in Reading Week events at Quidnessett Elementary School, Meadowbrook Elementary School, Garvin Memorial School, and Cumberland Hill Elementary School. He also plans to visit Oakland Beach School.
K-12 education funding was a key priority in Governor Chafee’s proposed fiscal year 2013 budget.
